I Was Not Expecting This… Asus ROG Keris II Ace Review
Asus was kind enough to send out the Asus ROG Keris II Ace gaming mouse for review. It is a lightweight (54 grams), right-hand ergonomic mouse with top of the line specs, such as 4,000 Hz Polling Rate. I was not expecting much out of this mouse. But it completely took me by surprise.
Some other things I forgot to mention in the review:
- According to their documentation: At 1,000 Hz it is 10 ms faster, .03 ms faster at 2,000 and 0.02 ms faster at 4,000 Hz.
- Shell is made out of aa Bio-Based Nylon Shell. But the primary click buttons are PBT.
- DPI Deviation is less than 1% compared to industry average of 3%.

    I own both. The optical clicks on the superlight 2 are the best implementation that I've seen. They actually feel more tactile than the true mechanical clicks on the superlight 1. I hated the mushy optical clicks on the OG Viper so much that I swore I would never use them again, but the superlight 2 has converted me.

      That is fair enough. It took me a while to get used to optical switches. But the Viper V3 Pro is the best optical implementation I've tried. As it feels and sounds great. I'm still not the biggest fan of GPX 2 optical switch feel.

      Really comes down to if you are fine with a wire or not. As the performance is going to be very similar. I believe the Wired version also has a better coating. There is also the new Hyperspeed variant V4 Hyperspeed? I think. Which has a slightly new shape and some improvements that may be worth getting instead. As it is wireless, while being cheaper, with slightly bumped specs (I think I'd double check as pulling from memory and haven't looked for a while).

      @@LoudMime Do keep in mind that people who aren't having problems aren't going to be searching for forums with a problem. So, when you see those types of forums you are seeing only people who have problems. Making it so if the number of people is small even in those forums that it is a very limited issue. The same can be said for reviews to a certain extent. Additionally, you could look at the same thing for Logitech and see if they have the same problems. But regardless I think that issue you are having is a defect. Which all products have at some percentage. You had bad luck. As did those other people. Which is why warranties exist. So that you can be guaranteed a working product. I'm not trying to diminish anything here either. Just simply trying to get a good perspective.

      @ThomasMuehler 11 днів тому

      Yes. To explain fully. 1. He would have to have his PS5 ON at his house. Along with turning on the ability for remote play. 2. He would need to have a strong internet connection at his house. 3. At your house he would need to be connected to your network on his phone. Which would also have to be strong. 4. Then you should be able to use the application on the phone to connect to the PS5 and play remotely. However, with it going through the internet connection there would be some lag associated with it. But yes according to my understanding that should work just fine. If it works or does not work I would love to hear.

      What green cord are you talking about? The green cord on the headset above the earcups? Just connects both of them together for sound. Otherwise, the drivers wouldn't get any signal. The green cable is just a stylized way to get that done. With it being coiled helps prevent it from breaking incase it gets caught on something.

    Is it worth buying the g pro x superlight OG? I’ve read alot about the double click issue and I don’t feel like wasting money on a mouse that has that problem

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler 16 днів тому

      Good question. I get A LOT of comments on how their Logitech mice have developed double clicks. It is always a risk of mechanical switches. Also, geographical/climate are contributing factors making it better/worse. If you have concerns with that I would recommend going with the new one since it has hybrid optical switches where that shouldn't happen. Personally, I prefer optical switches. As won't develop double clicks and are faster. But tend to be louder and not feel as crisp as less moving parts (which is what makes them more robust). So there are trades. But I'm willing to take those trades for the benefits but that varies from person to person. I think it also depends on the price difference. Where if you can buy two of OG Superlight for 1 of the Superlight 2. I think they come with a 2 year warranty. Double clicks would be covered under warranty (assuming you live somewhere that accepts the warranty). That would give you four years of coverage for the same price. But the GPX 2 also has slightly better specs which may also help with your decision making. But again, this is all personal opinion with your own pros/cons list.

      @@nuzzky Unfortunately, I tend to focus on the top-end mice. So, I don't have a lot of knowledge to pull from when it comes to budget mice. I think all of the Razer "pro line" of mice have been optical for a long time. They have slowly improved in time with each generation. If you were to buy an OG Viper or the Viper V2 Pro you could probably get it quite cheap ($60 - $80). Or if you wait for a sale you could probably get one of their modern flagships (I think the Viper V3 Pro is the best mouse on the market right now) for an acceptable price. But probably more than you would want. As I'd imagine closer to the 100 if on a great sale but closer to 120 - 130 mark. Neither are "budget" category. All the other mice that I can think of off the top of my head are either not very good, use mechanical, or have strange shapes. And again "budget" mice are my specialty. That comment about there's nothing worse than troubleshooting an issue for hours and hours only to find that it was a bad cable. That definitely struck true for me recently as I was changing some things around with my gaming rig and I had my EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 ultra that I had just fixed recently by having to replace the fans hooked back up to my main screen which is a 55-in q n e d LG ,4k which I had no issues with before but all the sudden I kept on having signal loss just every I don't know 5-10 minutes some days I would get a black screen for a few seconds right in the middle of gaming and so I thought maybe the HDMI port on my 3080 was bad cuz I tried several different cables and they all did the same thing and they were all supposedly high speed HDMI 2.1 cables. And then I decided well I'll just use an adapter for the display port outputs since there's only one HDMI but that caused all kinds of problems since I was trying to run 1440p in 120 hz it did not like that at all Windows was going absolute dog s*** crazy kept on moving apps and programs from one screen to the other screen because the other monitor was ultra widescreen that actually has a display port and supports everything that the cable supports. But windows was barely even detecting that it was connecting via HDMI hell at one point it even said it was DVI I was all kinds of confused. But today I did a bunch of research while I was on break from work and found out that those adapters don't really allow certain features even if your TV supports it to work properly in most cases. So I went back to maybe it's just the cable. Stopped at Best buy picked up a couple of audio quest 8 to 10K certified cables 48 GB speed and after connecting everything up I have zero issues now and it sounds and runs beautifully in fact now it runs at 4K 120 hz 120 FPS I might still take them back if some monoprice ones will do the same thing but I'd have to order them and I need them this weekend. I had no idea what a difference a first gen 2.1 cable versus a high-end 2.1 cable makes. Especially since my first one goes to my TV and then the second one goes from the eArc port on my TV to my soundbar and no more issues there either. ^_^

    I want to buy this laptop to study at the university, but I am confused by 8 GB of RAM. It is a pity that in my country there are no discounts on the Q420 model, but there are other options such as the Asus Vivobook X1605, HP Victus, Lenovo Ideapad Gaming, but they do not have a touchpad and the small portable sizes as Zenbook.

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler 24 дні тому

      What do you mean by confused about 8 GB of RAM? At this point I would recommend a minimum of 16 GB of RAM. I do not recommend 8 GB at all anymore. Thankfully, we are in a good spot from a laptop perspective as we are having a "MacBook M1" moment with Windows PCs. Put very simply, new laptops with new CPUs are coming out that are more powerful, while being more energy efficient leading to much longer battery life and are coming with a minimum of 16 GB of RAM. While they are around the $1000 - $1500 mark (don't know how that translates in your country) I think are worth the investment. And more importantly, think there will be a lot of sales as all the big players are going to be pushing them hard so you probably will be able to grab one for a lot less than that on a sale. They will last you at least 5 - 10 years at least. Depending on how demanding you are on your PC. With you going into University and if you can afford it, investing in a nice laptop will help you a lot. As you'll not have to worry as much about plugging it in for power along with just having a lot better user experience. But unfortunately, money dictates a lot. Where if you can't afford to do that then you can't do it. I'd be looking at the Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 (13 or 15 inch version) with the Snapdragon Plus/Elite processor. But there are some problems with that. Whereas, the new one from AMD is the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX370 with the last bit there being HX3xx (meaning they have say HX365, HX370, HX375). As those processors are 100% the future. And will also unlock more AI features which may or may not actually be something neat in the future. But also think that can help with the learning process. As you can bounce back and fourth with it to get better understanding of concepts. You can do that on a normal PC too though.

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler 21 день тому

      @@khashimovsamin I can't give a good opinion. The problem with laptops, is that so much varies from laptop to laptop, making it exceedingly difficult to say how good/bad a laptop is without actually testing it. To explain that further, most laptops have the same specs. However, depending on how the manufacturer makes that laptop those same specs can vary significantly in performance. This change is mostly due to better/worse cooling and different voltages. Usually (and this is simplifying) the higher the voltage the better the performance. Last, with laptops software can actually change things quite a bit too. Core Ultra is the newer version which is good. But I think the 5 125H is more middle of the line. But based on benchmarks performance isn't all the big. Additionally, with a less powerful CPU (that still performs nearly the same) it should give you better battery life. 16 GB of RAM is always better than 8 GB. Especially, as time goes on that difference becomes even more important. But the next problem with laptops that I think is more important than performance. As despite my explanation above, most laptops, more or less perform the same. Making it not the deal breaker when choosing one. Obviously asterisks associated with that but not at the price range you are talking about. Which brings me back to my point of how good is the keyboard, screen, cooling, build quality, trackpad. As a lot of laptops suck at all of those categories which makes using the machine lackluster and frustrating. But if you are using external stuff (mouse, keyboard, screen) then it matters less. And that is the biggest thing with me not being able to tell you about that laptop. Is I just haven't felt it so I don't know how it feels from that end and is the main thing of why I recommend this laptop. Is because it nails those aspects. Hopefully, that all made sense. If not, please let me know, or if you have any additional questions. I will say that price, seems acceptable for the specs.

    Great video. I'd like to try that mouse, as it seems smaller than the recently bought V3Pro that, imo, really needs a little bother for people with smaller hands (beyond the "just" upgrades on the internals, is still kind of clumsy, but with an improved grip, compared to many 4K mice that are lighter and perform great, probably like this asus, like, again, lamzu's Maya and Thorn, Ninjitsu Sora and if it was lighter the Zygen Vaxee NP-01S, and we - people like me really still need after all this years, a shape length cobra but instead of a hybrid a real Viper but some few cms shorter; it's a discussion with old beards by the time being. That said, I'll keep those mice as top users, including the V3Pro and the DAV3Pro which I would also like to see in a size more similar to the ones mentioned, but not as short nor expensive as the V3SE and less yet than the G-wolves hsk - and those mice are not just minimal but I do hate holes in my shell. I'll wait to see, because I don't see any great break trough here in the top tier gaming mice, by Asus just looking at it's specs. We're half year from 2025 and it's not a great deal for me to buy a 159$ (still almost 180/190€ in Europe, in a short research!!!) mouse without having a polling rate of 8k as standard (wireless, cables are a bit vintage on mice gaming premier league) only 50G's max acceleration, and way to heavy for this period of mice evolution. It may be very good in all aspects you pointed out, but following the standard specs it should have for almost 200€ it will be, sorry but it's too expensive, a hard pass. But I'll keep an eye on further evolution. Thanks for your review, it was great!

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler 25 днів тому

      In general it seems like smaller mice are a part of the market that is underserved. But from some of the random internals that I see from companies the “small” variants are also their worst sellers. Which makes me wonder if people just aren’t aware or it is a small percentage of individuals that are just quite vocal. I thought I heard the new Deathadder V3 hyperspeed is slightly smaller. Which makes me think the Deathadder V4 Pro will have the same shape and be slightly smaller. And the DAV3 is was slightly smaller than the DAV2. Yes, I would agree that the top-tier gaming mice (S-Tier as I call it) are all essentially the same. I think the closest to a “break through” which I use loosely here, is higher polling rate and with Razer have it automatically switch from 1,000 Hz (or lower/higher) on desktop compared to (8,000 higher/lower) while gaming. Along with adjustable LOD and Landing Distance. But again. All of those are so small that they are practically meaningless. I’m honestly not sure where they will go from here. As we are in an exceedingly good place right now. A lot of mice with excellent performance, shape, sizes, weights, and costs. I think the only company that has “stable” 8K is Razer. I think everyone else is still stuck at 4,000 Hz. Unless if I’m incorrect (which is very possible as I haven’t been keeping my hand on the pulse like I used to). Also, the difference between 8K and 4K is pretty minimal. And I think could be well argued not worth the trade for the instability and battery drain. I agree the 50 G max acceleration is a bit of a bummer. I would expect better with the 750 IPS. So, I’m wondering if that is an accurate spec or not. I guess I don’t see 54 grams to be heavier either. Seeing as most of the main mice (that you can buy in normal brick and motar stores) are around that. With only a few exceptions being <50 much less <40 grams. And usually the trade for that is lower build quality and inner components on the ones that do offer that. And certainly are not a solid shell, with Bluetooth, dongle placement, dpi adjustment, RGB, that you find on this. But I totally get your hesitation and I don’t think I would buy this one if I already had excellent mice. But if I was looking for a new mouse or a smaller DAV3 Pro I think it would be a good choice based on how well they did holistically on feel and performance. But I would keep an eye on Asus. As they seem to be focusing on the right things. So I’m interested to see what they make in the future.

    to have 2 or 3 or 5 layers of insulation in the board is not a sign of quality in itself. Every element of the board plays a role. It is the same for aluminum, which is not necessarily better than plastic. High quality plastic is better than cheap cast aluminum. • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler 25 днів тому

      Great question. 1. One thing I really enjoyed about the Viper V3 Pro is that you can have 1,000 Hz on the desktop and then higher hertz (2,000/4,000/8,000 Hz) once you open a game. Which is a nice quality of life improvement. 2. With the V3 Pro it came with the hyper polling dongle. Meaning if you don’t already own one you “save” money by waiting as it should also be included with the DAV4 Pro. That is speculation though. 3. Additionally, if you look at the new DAV3 Hyperspeed it has a slightly new shape, I think? Which means the V4 will have that new shape (most likely). So, depending on which shape you prefer that could be a good or bad thing. 4. Last, on my Viper V3 Pro and according to reviews (as I haven't tested the Deathadder V3 Hyperspeed) the clicks are the best they have been. With them feeling very crisp, but not being as loud as optical switches tend to be. Also, the coating is slightly better. I would expect the DAV4 Pro to be released in probably like 6 months? As it seems like that is kind of their schedule. But ALL of this is speculation on my part. If I’m right all of those are more quality of life improvements that may or may not be worth waiting for. As assuming they don’t do anything horrifically wrong all of these mice are “S-Tier” (highest tier you can get). And you can’t go wrong with any of them. As at this level it comes down to splitting hairs and personal preferences. Personally, if I had a mouse that I enjoyed right now I would wait.

So I think it is the most bang for your buck (comparatively to the other options). I think the Viper SE is just simply too expensive to be worth it. Ultralight X while great is filled with too much exclusivity (along with Viper SE) with too much risk of not getting a flawless copy and Finalmouse's warranty (the process of it) is highly questionable. Making it a big risk. Same with the Viper Mini SE as just the cost and if you don't like the shape and all that is a ton of money gone. Even though I'm sure resell is great. But you can easily get rid of the Viper V3 Pro. But at this point between those three mice I'm not even interested in others. As they just nailed it. It will take something really unique or interesting for me to go looking again. Also, just so the record is clear. I do not recommend buying multiple premium tiered gaming mice. All of the ones I mentioned are S-Tier. Except for Superlight. I put that in the A-Tier. Can go into that reasoning at another time if you want. So you can't go wrong with any of them. Additionally, I think for the mass majority of people they don't need a $150 or more mouse to perform to their level. Gaming mice can be a money sink for sure. There is diminishing returns very quickly. But with that said, if I were only going to ever buy one mouse, I'd personally buy a premium tiered one. As from my own personal experience I've found going with one of the bests on the market tends to be the most cost effective. As you get an excellent product that lasts for a long time, that holds its performance and can't be outshadowed for a long time, while also giving you the best experience, which makes me NOT curious about what else is out there as I'm fully satisfied. Meaning I won't go spending money trying a bunch of things to find what works and what doesn't. So it is cheaper for ME. Because I'm a moron who likes to try everything first hand and make my own opinions on things. But that is not a good or smart way to go about things with limited funds.

    Been using this for the last 3 days or so, I'll try to take back the money. Do you have any other recommendations? I had the A10 Gen 1 previously but it got kind of heavy on such a small top pad. If it wasn't for that, would stay with it.
